A career-page aggregator closes that gap by reading listings directly from the source. The index JobFerret builds through public ATS APIs currently holds 408,290 active listings across 11,944 employer accounts, none of which passed through an intermediary board before reaching the index. That direct connection is what separates this approach from a traditional aggregator that collects whatever the big boards already have.
What the Term Actually Means
A job board that aggregates company career pages is a search tool that pulls listings directly from the applicant tracking systems companies use to manage hiring, not from other job boards. Its purpose is to surface roles that exist only on a company's own hiring portal, giving job seekers access to positions that never appear on general-purpose boards.
The mechanism JobFerret uses is public ATS APIs from eight platforms: Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, SmartRecruiters, Recruitee, Personio, and Teamtailor. Each platform has a different footprint among employers. Ashby accounts for 2,712 distinct employers in the index, Workable for 2,675, and Greenhouse for 2,420. Recruitee covers 1,814 employers, Personio covers 1,274, and SmartRecruiters covers 1,030. Lever, the smallest source by employer count, contributes 17 employers.
Coverage is limited to companies that publish through one of those eight supported platforms. If an employer manages hiring through a system outside that list, its roles do not appear in the index. That boundary is a direct consequence of how the data is collected: the index reads from ATS APIs, so it only reaches what those APIs expose. A company that posts roles exclusively on an unsupported system remains outside the index, regardless of how actively it is hiring.
A Concrete Example: What the Index Looks Like
The index holds active listings pulled from eight ATS platforms, with per-platform listing counts ranging from 158,533 on SmartRecruiters down to 32 on Teamtailor. Remote listings total 69,994 across all platforms. These numbers reflect only what public ATS APIs expose, not the full universe of company career pages on the web.
SmartRecruiters contributes the largest share of listings at 158,533, though that count is understated for 16 employers due to a collection cap of 2,000 listings per company. The employer count for SmartRecruiters is not affected by that limit. Greenhouse follows with 93,759 listings, and Workable adds 67,531.
Ashby, at 44,735 listings, carries 25,049 remote listings, the highest remote count of any platform in the index. Recruitee contributes 28,434 listings, Personio contributes 14,437, and Lever contributes 829. Teamtailor is the smallest source by listing volume, with 32 active listings at the time of collection.
The spread across platforms illustrates a structural point about this kind of index: no single ATS dominates the full picture, and a tool that reads from only one or two platforms misses a substantial portion of what companies publish directly. The 69,994 remote listings in the index exist because the collection reaches across all eight platforms simultaneously, not because any one source is comprehensive on its own.
Which Roles Appear Most Often in a Career-Page Index
Engineering leads the index with 26,020 openings across 2,590 companies, followed by Sales at 18,654 openings across 2,047 companies. Marketing accounts for 7,123 openings, Product roles total 3,217 openings, and Design contributes 1,401 openings across 346 companies. These figures describe the top 40 of 7,840 job categories tracked and do not represent the full dataset.
The gap between Engineering and every other category is consistent with what companies publish directly on their career pages: technical hiring volume is high, and it is spread across a large number of employers. Sales follows at a distance but still draws from 2,047 distinct companies, which means the volume reflects broad demand rather than concentration in a few large organizations.
Marketing and Design sit further down the list, yet both categories carry meaningful remote counts. Product roles illustrate this clearly: of the 3,217 Product openings, 1,483 are listed as remote, a higher remote share than most other categories in the top 40.
The distribution across these categories reflects what job boards that aggregate company career pages actually surface: a mix of technical, commercial, and creative roles published directly by employers, without editorial filtering or manual curation.
How This Differs From a Traditional Job Board or General Aggregator
A traditional job board accepts postings submitted by employers or pulls listings from other boards, which means the same opening can circulate across multiple platforms with different timestamps and varying accuracy. A career-page aggregator reads directly from the ATS record through the platform's API, so the listing reflects what the employer's own hiring system shows at the moment of the call. Indeed, LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, and SimplyHired are not career-page aggregators in this sense because they do not pull exclusively from ATS APIs.
The practical difference becomes visible in remote-listing counts. Greenhouse alone contributes 15,734 remote listings to the index, and Workable contributes 15,335, because both figures come from the ATS record itself rather than from a self-reported field that a job board might carry forward from an older posting. When a company updates its ATS, the change reaches the index on the next API call.
General aggregators are commonly confused with career-page aggregators because both display many listings in a single interface. The source layer is what separates them: one reads boards and republished feeds, the other reads the hiring system directly. That distinction affects freshness, deduplication, and whether the listing matches what the employer actually has open.
